Start here when a Facebook Page or Instagram account is missing, disconnected, restricted, or unable to publish.Facebook and Instagram control their own account permissions, security checks, and publishing requirements. A connection that worked previously can stop working after an account change or a security event, even when nothing changed in Overlap. Choose the guide that matches what you see:
Account linking
Fix missing Pages or accounts, select a different login, and resolve browser or authorization errors.
Disconnected or restricted
Reconnect an account after a password, security, permission, or account-status change.
Publishing and analytics
Diagnose failed posts, media errors, reach restrictions, attribution labels, and missing demographic data.
Link your social accounts
Return to the standard Overlap account-linking flow.
Before you troubleshoot
Confirm these account requirements first:- Facebook publishing requires a Facebook Page. Personal Facebook profiles cannot be connected for publishing.
- Instagram must be a Business or Creator account connected to a Facebook Page.
- The Facebook profile used during authorization needs sufficient Page access to manage content and linked accounts. Review Page access.
- Complete every permission prompt and allow the authorization window to open.
- Very new accounts and Pages may be temporarily prevented from connecting or publishing. If the account was just created, finish its setup, use it normally, and try again later.
What support needs
If the relevant guide does not resolve the issue, contact Overlap support with:- the affected company and connected account name
- whether the problem affects Facebook, Instagram, or both
- a screenshot of the full error
- the approximate time and time zone of the failed link or post
- the affected Social Calendar post link, if one exists
- whether a manual post made directly in the Facebook or Instagram app succeeds
