Instagram publishing requires an eligible professional account. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be used for automated publishing.

Before you begin

Confirm the Instagram account is a Business or Creator account:
  1. Open the Instagram mobile app and go to your profile.
  2. Open Settings and activity.
  3. Under For professionals, open Account type and tools.
  4. If necessary, choose Switch to professional account and select Business or Creator.
Depending on the authorization flow available to your account, Instagram may ask you to sign in directly or authenticate through Facebook. If Facebook is used, the Instagram professional account must be connected to a Facebook Page that you are authorized to manage.

Connect Instagram directly

  1. Open Accounts and select Instagram.
  2. Choose Connect.
  3. Sign in to the intended Instagram account.
  4. Enable every requested permission and choose Allow.
  5. Return to Overlap and confirm the account appears as Connected.

Connect through Facebook

If the authorization window asks you to continue with Facebook:
  1. Sign in with the Facebook profile that manages the connected Page.
  2. Select the intended Instagram Business or Creator account.
  3. Select its connected Facebook Page.
  4. Enable all requested Page, Instagram, and publishing permissions.
  5. Complete authorization, then confirm the Instagram account appears in Overlap.
Switching an Instagram account back to Personal can disconnect it from the Facebook Page and stop publishing. Reconfirm the Page connection after changing account type.
